About Me

My photo
I’m a Christian, first and foremost. It is the first description I can give of myself. Next I was blessed with a wonderful family. I had wonderful parents and we were raised in a Christian family with lots of love. I have 2 younger sisters and their children are like my own. Now they have grown up and have children of their own and they are like our grandchildren. My father was a TVA Engineer when I was born and we lived all over Tennessee my first 8 yrs of life but then we moved to upstate SC and have been here ever since. One of my interests is genealogy and I’ve been blessed that both my husband’s family and my family have lived around us within a 300 mile radius for hundreds of years which makes it easier. My husband and I have been married for over 44 years. He still works but is close to retirement. I’m disabled. I spend a lot of time on my interests and I use my blog to document my projects much like a scrapbook.

Proverbs 6:32-35

Proverbs 6:32-35  32 But the man who commits adultery is an utter fool,

for he destroys himself.
33 He will be wounded and disgraced.
His shame will never be erased.
34 For the woman’s jealous husband will be furious,
and he will show no mercy when he takes revenge.
35 He will accept no compensation,
nor be satisfied with a payoff of any size.

Referring to money offered to free the adulterer from punishment. The wounded spouse will reject any bribe or payment for compensation. As if there is compensation for such betrayal!?! Nothing can recompense a spouse who has been so betrayed. The wounded spouse will want nothing short of revenge. He will prosecute to the fullest and will not back down.

How foolish therefore is the man that will expose his name and credit, his health and substance, his life in this world, and his soul in another, to utter ruin, for the sake of gratifying a sordid lust! This may be interpreted of God, who is a jealous God in matters of worship, and will not suffer idolatry to go unpunished, which is spiritual adultery. - Gill's Exposition of the Bible

The writer is telling us how very bad adultery and sexual sin outside of marriage is! For those who have experienced a spouse who has betrayed you in that way, you understand how very deep the hurt goes. You have shared yourself in every way with someone, become one with them, only to have them wander off after someone else. It's a particularly devastating betrayal and one God knows all too well.

You see He designed, planned and created us. Then He breathed His life in us. But, due to sin, we are born separated from Him. And then we willingly sin throughout our lives which puts separation between us and our Beloved. The only way we could come back to Him is through a pure blood sacrifice. But none of us is that pure as we are born in sin. So He sent His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ left the glory of Heaven and the very Throne of God to come down to earth and be born as a human being. He was human from Mary's side of the family tree. He was divine from God's side of the family tree. He was the only pure, sinless human born after Adam and Eve sinned. AND, He chose to remain sinless throughout the days of His life on earth. So when He was crucified, He bore our sins and was the blood sacrifice that paid for our redemption. If we accept Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, and free to have that relationship with God! We are cleansed and covered with Jesus' righteousness so we can once again be in relationship with God!

I'm a Christian, saved by faith in Jesus Christ. But I still sin at times. We don't have to. We don't have to be bound by sin any more because Jesus can set us free. But I'm still human and still make wrong choices and sin. I can be forgiven any time I repent and ask for forgiveness. And I'm saved regardless of all my sins because I'm saved through the work of Jesus Christ, not through my own good works (which are never good enough). We seem to have weakness for sins. Different people have different weaknesses. But we are supposed to struggle and become victorious over those weaknesses with the help of the Holy Spirit within us. Some do and some don't. If they have accepted Jesus by faith then they are still saved but it will affect their eternal rewards. Not counting that the consequences of willfully sinning are multitude while we live on earth.

To get back to today's scripture. God was betrayed by the very ones He gave His life to. He was betrayed by the very ones whom He gave His Son for. He was betrayed by the very ones His Son died for. God has done everything to bring back His people into intimate relationship with. But we keep on running after every Tom, Dick and Harry idol that crosses our path. We are promiscuous and we seem to love everyone or everything but our Beloved. He has withheld nothing from us but we run after other "lovers". He has sacrificially provided in every way for us but we run off after silly idols that do nothing but harm us.

Any human spouse would want revenge and would want to prosecute to the uttermost the one who has betrayed them. But God has gone over and beyond all that to bring us back into relationship with Him. We deserve everlasting punishment, but God was merciful in providing a way of salvation by giving His Son to die in our place!

Satan and sin, with the cooperation of Adam and Eve, stole LIFE from God. God had created Adam and Eve and breathed His Life into them! But they left their first love and went after sin and self. This stole the life of every human being that followed. There is only one compensation that answers: life for life. But it had to be pure life as it was pure, sinless life that was stolen from God. The problem was that we are all born in sin and therefore there is no human being that could pay the price of pure, sinless life for pure, sinless life. So God made the way by sending His Son, Jesus. Jesus left the glory of Heaven to come down and be born in human form. He was sinless. He died for us. He paid the price and did it willingly and voluntarily. Life is in the blood and oh, the blood of Jesus! The pure, sinless, spotless blood of Jesus paid for me! By accepting His sacrifice and believing in Him, I am saved and I am cleansed and have a relationship with my Father God! How precious is the flow that makes me white as snow!!!

1 John 1:7-9 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

  • If you have been betrayed by adultery, go to the One who can understand the depth of your hurt! Take it to God and let Him do the healing work in you and lead you as to your next step and in all your decisions.
  • Have you ever put adultery and idolatry together in comparison? Had you ever realized how deeply the hurt and betrayal of sin is to God?
  • If you are having difficulty understanding the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand. Then try to do some Bible study on it. There are resource books that could help you. Your pastor might can help you or guide you in your study. Take Bible studies offered. Read the Word prayerfully. Give it time and God will begin teaching you on this subject.
  • How is your relationship with God? Is there any shadow between you and God? Are there sins that are distancing you from your Beloved? Take it to the Lord in prayer and ask forgiveness. Then ask for the Holy Spirit to help you be victorious. It may be a lifelong struggle, but struggle we are called to do. We aren't alone in our struggle. We have the power of His Word and the Holy Spirit within us. We can do it with the help of God! And when we fail, we can ask for forgiveness.
  • Have you experienced relationship with God? Do you realize how precious this relationship is? How much it cost God to be in relationship with us? That realization is a fall-on-your-knees worship moment!!! Pursue relationship!
