I have not found Leo Marcellus Barnes in the 1920 U.S. Census. There is a Leo Barnes, DOB 1897 in NC, living and working in Detroit, Michigan. He is a lodger and another lodger is Lawrence Barnes. I don’t know if this is the correct Leo Barnes or not, so I haven’t included it here.
Leo M. Barnes married Cleo L. Heggie (aka Cleo Hegge, Cleo Hege, Cleo Heggie, Cleo L. Brown Barnes) (DOB 4/16/1903 in North Carolina to Thomas Benton Heggie and Bessie Mae Wooten) on 12/20/1924 in NC.
They had 2 children:

Leo Barnes died 10/25/1929 in Linwood, Davidson County, NC in a freak accident. While mowing grass, a limb fell from a tree and killed him. He is buried in the Barnes Family Cemetery, Next To Churchland Baptist Church, Hwy 150, Davidson County, NC.
