 Elizabeth Mae Barnes was born 8/9/1890 in Davidson County, NC to Lewis Frances Barnes (DOB 10/1/1851 in Davidson County, NC; DOD 9/21/1934 in Davidson County, NC) and Annah Elizabeth Brawley (DOB 12/17/1856 in Iredell County, NC; DOD 3/2/1929 in Davidson County, NC). She was one of 9 children. Six of the children were boys and she was the youngest of the 3 daughters. Her oldest brother was Avery Lawrence Barnes who was my great grandfather.

Elizabeth M. Barnes was living at home with her parents in the 1900-1910 U.S. Censuses.

Unfortunately they were only married 8 years before James McElory died in 1929 of cancer of the esophagus. He is buried in the Barnes Cemetery, next to Churchland Baptist Church, Hwy 150, Davidson, NC.
